Football club planning fan zone outside stadium

The club say the area will become “a safe and engaging space for supporters and visitors to enjoy pre and post-match activities, further enhancing the community experience at our club.”

Support for the idea has been given by local businesses with interest from food and drink sellers.

The club says it is committed to “fostering a vibrant and inclusive environment for our community.”

Details of the proposals are given by the club in an application to Dorset Council’s licensing sub-committee to extend the area of the current Premises Licence, which allows drinks sales. The application does not seek to extend the times the club is able to sell alcohol.

Dorchester Town FC says it would like to extend the area covered by the licence beyond the main structure of the ground to include the permanent perimeter area surrounding the pitch and the front car park.

It aks, if possible, to extended licence area from April this year.

Public comments on the proposal remain open until March 7th.

If there are objections, on licensing grounds, the decision is likely to be passed to a panel of councillors to decide, after hearing evidence; if there are no objections which meet the criteria, the extension will be granted.
