IT’S National Burger Day today and we’ve unearthed a list of our readers’ favourite joints in Dorset from our archives.
We asked readers to tell us their favourite place to get a burger and compiled an ultimate shortlist based on their recommendations.
If you have a craving for a burger, here’s where to head. You can let us know your favourite place below in the comments.
1. 7Bone Burger Co.

The One Big Chicken!! Buttermilk Fried Chicken, Hash Browns, American Cheese and the INCREDIBLE Chipotle Ketchup / HP Sauce Combo! #7Bone #dirtysexyburgers
With their creatively titled creations, 7Bone Burger Co. in Gervis Place took first place with scores of nominations from readers.
The restaurant prides itself on serving “American comfort food” but be prepared to get messy as their burgers are big and bold.
Diners can take their pick from the likes of Ronald’s Revenge which comes with cheese, onions, ketchup, mustard and pickles, the Triple B with blue cheese, bacon, bacon jam, truffle blue cheese dressing and shredded lettuce.
And for those who like things hot, there’s Peter Green which has a beef patty, Texan all steak chilli, cheese, mustard and jalapenos.
Vegetarians are also catered for with two options featuring halloumi or a homemade falafel patty.
It has 429 ‘excellent’ reviews out of 828.

Located on Holdenhurst Road, Baia Baia Flame Grilled Burgers has been described as a “hidden gem”.
With a mind-boggling number of burgers on their menu you will be spoilt for choice.

4. Monty’s Lounge
This favourite in Bourne Avenue in Bournemouth town centre is sadly going to be closing its doors for good on Saturday, August 29, after eight years and 100,000 burgers. However, there’s still time to head there if you’re quick.
Arrive hungry and take your pick from the likes of the Big Mike 2 x 3oz smashed patties, quad American cheese, smoked bacon, mustard mayo, house sauce, gherkins – which also comes as a 12oz – or the Red Hot Chilli Burger with an aged beef patty, scratchmade chilli jam, monterey jack cheese, smoked bacon and baconnaise.
There are also three vegetarian burgers to choose from.
One commenter on the Bournemouth Echo’s Facebook page said: “In terms of quality burgers alongside price I think Monty’s is a clear winner. The burgers are perfectly cooked every time. Tender meat and melt in mouth texture as well as the brioche bun with fillings are perfect partners.”
It has 199 ‘excellent’ reviews out of 346.
5. Seasons Restaurant
Open daily from 9.00am to 4.30pm (6pm in August, last food orders 5.30pm)
It may not be the obvious choice, but Seasons Restaurant at Moors Valley Country Park came highly recommended previously.
It has had to alter its menu due to offering takeaway only now from the kiosk but there’s still a gourmet beef burger on the menu which is a seasoned 6oz New Forest beef burger in a sourdough bun with tomato and onion relish with lettuce, tomato and onion.
The eatery is also currently doing DIY barbecue packs with turkey, steak, venison, wild boar and apple and lamb burgers to take away.
