IT’S an all new Peter Pan-tomime this December as an EastEnders favourite and more swashbuckle their way to the Bournemouth Pavilion stage.
After a one-year delay, a fresh but traditional Christmas pantomime of Peter Pan is set to excite the pavilion theatre with more than 45 shows over a one-month period.
UK Productions alongside BH Live will present the pantomime adventure, which sees matinee and evening performances from Saturday December 4, 2021, to Sunday January 2, 2022.
Peter Pan: The Return of Captain Hook will follow on from the end of the original Peter Pan story and show the villainous Hook aim to get revenge on his foe.
EastEnders and Extras star Shaun Williamson has said that he’s excited to “shift the magic formula onto the stage” as he dons the famous hand prosthetic as Captain Hook – the villainous pirate of Neverland.
Shaun said: “This production was cancelled last year because of you know what and so we’re very grateful that it’s being restaged this December.
“I started acting professionally aged 30 and was lucky enough to go straight into EastEnders. When I left the show, I was really keen to get myself on stage because I was drama school trained.
“I couldn’t wait to play the baddies, this is my fifth time playing Hook and I love the character. It’s great to be booed, especially by the kids.
He added: “This is my first time performing at the Bournemouth Pavilion and I’m genuinely very excited. There’s a new twist to the story and I can guarantee that we’ll give it 100 per cent every performance. So come along, support the theatre and we’ll make sure it’s worth your while.
“I’m incredibly fond of Bournemouth and I can’t wait to live here and become an honorary Bournemouthian for two months.”
It’s going to be spectacular.”
David Ribi will play the titular role as Peter Pan, paired alongside Holly Atterton as Tinkerbell and comedian Noel Brodie as Mr Smee.
Holly said: “I came on a family holiday to Poole many years ago and had a lovely time. What a stunning theatre you have here and I can’t wait to see the seats filled, it’s going to be magical.
“Hook your tickets – see what I did there – and please come and watch what will be a never seen before script.”
Pantomime producer Martin Dodd said: “We’ve not been in the theatre properly now for two years and it’s going to be amazing – the cast, crew and everyone involved is so fired up for it.
“It’ll be extra special this year to have full audiences back and we have lots in store for them. We’ve taken the chance over the lockdown to take a look at all of our scripts and Peter Pan was at the top of the list.
“It’s still the Peter Pan that everybody knows but we’ve updated it with some new twists, moved a few generations forward and modernised certain roles. It basically allows the characters to relate more to the 21st century, without losing the core traditional values.
“It’s going to be spectacular, so don’t miss it.”
