Plans for new bar at popular seafront business

The site, which was previously a dive shop, has been in place since the 1970s with the kitesurfing school taking it over in 2023.

The operators, in a planning application to Dorset Council, say they would like to use part of the building as a bar serving alcoholic and non alcoholic refreshments and snacks with part of the building staying as a kitesurfing shop and school.

Said the application: “The footprint of the building that already exists will be unchanged and only work to be carried out will be inside the building. Works will include an additional patio door to the rear of the building, a new laminate floor, re-plaster boarding the ceiling with more adequate products as well as adding a seating area.”

The details of the application, and others on Portland, can be seen on the Dorset Council website using the reference provided. The website also offers the ability to comment on individual applications.
